At Pet En Care, our goal is to create food that is healthy, highly nutritious, and easily digestible for your pets. We take a strong stance against using corn in our formulations. Instead of high-glycemic grains like corn or wheat, we incorporate a full range of regional vegetables such as carrots, peas, and beans. These vegetables provide essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients in their natural and bioavailable form, offering a limited but balanced amount of carbohydrates to support your pet’s health.
While many dog food brands use corn as an ingredient, we believe dogs are natural meat eaters. Their teeth, with sharp canines for ripping, not molars for grinding, are a testament to their carnivorous nature. In fact, you won’t hear about dogs raiding cornfields, but you might hear of them sneaking into a chicken farm for meat. Corn, with its high glycemic index, is metabolized in dogs similarly to sugar in humans. Feeding corn to dogs is kind to feeding a child high-sugar foods like cough syrup—it leads to energy crashes, hyperactivity, and difficulty concentrating. Over time, excessive corn consumption can also reduce serotonin levels in the brain, which is a crucial chemical that helps manage stress and anxiety.
Additionally, corn can contribute to several health issues in dogs, including allergies, joint swelling, and bloat. There are even instances where corn in dog food has been found to be contaminated with aflatoxin, a toxin produced by mold or fungi. Moreover, corn is not easily digestible for dogs, offering little to no nutritional value and often acting as a cheap filler in dog food.
At Pet En Care, we believe in crafting wholesome, nutritious meals that are both healthy and easily digestible for your pet’s well-being.
